John Petrucci – Terminal Velocity (Album Review)
Petrucci delivered something unique. It’s well produced, well mixed, and all musicians who played on the album are at the top of their game. If you’re a fan of guitar-oriented instrumental album with lots of focus on melody, this is the album for you.
Christbait – EP Review
Even though there’s only 3 tracks, with a running time of 31 minutes, there’s plenty of music here. Furthermore, there’s enough variety within each track that they all flow well.
Testament – Titans of Creation (Album Review)
Titans of Creation does not steer too far from the last few albums with regards to genres explored. It is, however, a bit more melodic, most likely due to a larger contribution from Alex Skolnick. Today’s Testament has one of the best line-ups of any metal band. Every musician is at the top of their game. They all have slightly different tastes in music, which, when mixed in their melting pot, creates some of the best metal you can hear.
Archon Angel – Fallen (Album Review)
The musicians are solid and the concept allowed them to write with a fresh new approach. The best part? Zak sings as well as he ever did.
Annihilator – Ballistic, Sadistic (Album Review)
Jeff Waters is one of my favorite guitarists. It’s not even funny how underrated he is and how unique his style is. Ballistic, Sadistic has a good diversity in song structure, riffs, melodies, and vocals and established a new chapter in the band’s rich history.
Andy Gillion – Neverafter (Album Review)
For fans of instrumental metal with lots of melody and orchestrations, this is a great listen. You get to hear some vocals as a bonus too!
