Mourning Star – Purity (EP Review)
There have been some exciting new releases this year from many artists. It’s hard to catch up. It’s a good “problem” to have because it means there’s a lot of new music to check out. But sometimes you hear music from smaller bands; bands that are trying to establish themselves in the industry, and you …...
Underrated Albums: Mercyful Fate – In the Shadows
The band has recently announced that they are launching a new tour! I want to use this opportunity to write about my favorite Mercyful Fate album, and of my favorite heavy metal records of all time, In the Shadows.
Death Angel – Humanicide (Album Review)
It’s great to see the band active and stronger than ever. Rob and Mark still got it, and the musicians that have now become a part of the Death Angel family are certainly up for any task the duo may throw at them.
Vitalism – SY (EP Review)
I originally intended to write about something else but when I heard the band Vitalism’s music, I knew I needed to tell more people about them.
Dream Theater – Thoughts on Distance Over Time and More
My overall feeling with Distance Over Time is that Dream Theater has gotten its magic back! I’ve heard so many elements of what made me love this band in the first place that I can’t help but enjoy the music. I see this as Dream Theater acknowledging they write better music when they compose together, rather than making the entire project the undertaking of one or two people. If this album isn’t proof of that, I don’t know what is.
Delta Works – Reviews of Standalone Tracks
I like their psychedelic side more than anything. It really brought back memories from a different life and I thoroughly enjoyed that while I reviewed their music.
Underrated Albums: Metallica – …And Justice For All
I can’t help but feel …And Justice For All will always remain somewhat underrated. The production debate and the overwhelming press coverage on some of the other albums will always push Justice to the back burner. It’s not fair, though. This is such a killer album.
Message In A Cloud – Anassa (Album Review)
Anassa, which, according to Google translations means Queen in Greek, features 6 instrumental songs. While they have some different aspects to them, all 6 songs explore a “distinctive melancholic sound”, as the bands puts it.
Black Falcon – Turn Around and Face the Sun (Album Review)
It’s a dark and rainy day in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I don’t live here but I’m here for a small getaway. It’s raining quite a lot outside. Doesn’t bother me… I’m in a nice room with free wi-fi and everything I need to immerse myself in some music. I’ve got a lot on my plate …...
Universal Minds – Lost in the Haze of a Dream (Album Review)
I mentioned in one of my previous reviews that one of the best things that happened when I started Mega-Depth was being contacted by newer artists. I do my best to keep an eye out for new music; but no one has an infinite amount of time (if you do, don’t share your secret with anyone!). Sim Diamond is …...
